EHG Supports Future Business Magnates from Durham’s Framwellgate School

Future Business Magnates is an exciting and fun competition, aiming to build enthusiasm in young people and introduce them to the basics of starting and running a business.

School teams are supported by a business partner from a local firm who works with the team throughout the competition, lending their experience and expertise and guiding them in their first business venture.

Erwin Hymer Group UK has been partnered with Framwellgate School Durham for the 2024 edition of the competition.

This year’s theme is: ‘What a Wonderful World – Can you Make it Better?’ Participants will come up with a product which will solve a real problem people are facing today. Teams have been asked to use technology that is either currently available, or yet to be developed and come up with an idea that will help solve the problem and which can be turned into an innovative new business.

Today, the Year 8 Team from Framwellgate School were welcomed on a site visit of Erwin Hymer Group UK – where Xplore, Elddis and Buccaneer leisure vehicles are manufactured.

The Future Business Magnates enjoyed a tour of our Factory, where they saw caravan, motorhome and campervan production and explored some of our vehicles.

Next, the students worked with our R&D team, including Ben Jermy, Product Design Development Director and Andrew Walker, Lead Design Engineer, to discuss and finetune their prospective projects.

With some initial ideas taking root, creative juices were flowing and the day continued with a workshop with EHG UK’s Marketing Team, Rachel Moncrieff and Emma Hughes. Amid much excitement, the Future Business Magnates got to grips with copywriting, logo design and potential merchandise opportunities – fuelled by biscuits and a copious supply of Christmas chocolate!

Nathan Hunt, EHG UK’s HR Director heading up the Future Business Magnates partnership, says: “I am absolutely delighted that Erwin Hymer Group UK is partnering with Business Durham to support this wonderful event.

“This represents a fantastic opportunity for EHG UK to give something back to our local community and to inspire the next generation of business leaders.

“We are so excited to be paired with Framwellgate School Durham and look forward to supporting them as they develop their business idea.”
